The law has tightened its grip on the Maulana who made derogatory remarks against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his mother. In a major operation, the Uttar Pradesh Police Special Task Force (STF) arrested the accused, Maulana Abdul Salim, from Bihar and presented him in a court in Bahraich, where he was sent to jail. During the operation, the Maulana was seen limping in police custody.
Maulana Abdul Salim, a resident of Bihar, had made derogatory remarks about Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his mother. As the video went viral on social media, widespread anger erupted among Hindu organizations and the public. Cases were filed against the Maulana in several districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Bahraich, under sections of the IT Act and the Criminal Procedure Code.
Given the seriousness of the matter, the Uttar Pradesh government deployed the Special Task Force (STF) to search for the accused. Based on technical surveillance and information received from informants, the STF team conducted raids in Bihar and apprehended Abdul Salim. On Monday, the Special Task Force (STF) handed him over to the Bahraich City Police Station.
Ajit Pratap Singh, District President of the Legal Cell of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in Bahraich, filed a complaint on March 8th demanding strict legal action in the matter, following which an FIR was registered at the City Police Station.
Upon reaching Bahraich, CO City Narayan Dutt Mishra and Police Inspector Pradeep Kumar Singh interrogated the accused Maulana in a closed room for approximately 30 minutes. Police are trying to determine whether there was a larger conspiracy or the involvement of any organization behind this heinous act. Following the interrogation, the accused was produced before the local court under tight security. Given the gravity of the crime, the court ordered him to be sent to jail in judicial custody.
